Renew: According to Jim

Sometimes a cancel is not forever, just like the case of Jericho (do you remember the „nuts” story?), or now the case of According to Jim.

ABC ressurected the comedy for the next season, after initially leaving it off the new season’s schedule. The new, seventh season will consist of 18 episodes, but other details are not published. James Belushi, who is the star and the executive producer of this multi-camera comedy, was very happy about the decision and promised us a very great season. Other important character and star of the show is Courtney Thorne-Smith, who played Allison on the well-known series, Melrose Place , was very excited about the next season.

Despite of the last season’s low ratings (little over 6 million viewers per week) the network decided to renew the show, and I think the main reason was the 2007-2008 schedule, because ABC will broadcast three comedies on the new schedule, but all of them are single-camera (for example Carpoolers), and as I mentioned, According to Jim is multi-camera show. So, it’s interesting to know that sometimes a cancel is not sure, but I think in the case of According to Jim, it is a good thing.

Not a real CANCEL!: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Yesterday was a tragic day for fans of Studio 60 on the Sunset strip, because their favourite show has come to the end. But, fortunately, Aaron Sorkin wrote a nice happy ending for the show and its characters. Note: The other part of the article containing spoilers.

Jordan and Danny finally got their adoption papers and their new daughter, Rebecca will be their key to happiness in the future. I think the last scenes were too romantic, Sorkin tried to show a happy family life and future in a few minutes. I think, he shouldn’t have to do that, all the plot lines wrapped up in a hurried but exciting 5 minutes. Simon and Jack continued their quality work and they answered all the opened questions, they left. And in the end when we find out that Tom’s brother and the two missing soldiers are okay...it was very nice and suprising
scene! But that’s all the good part. I think this show was deserved the cancel because in the last episodes Sorkin made the Studio 60 some idiot and lame romantic show, and this is not the real Studio 60 feeling.
In the final episodes, there are a lot of things, which are very unneccessary and don’t mean anything. And from the ratings, you can see that others probably thinking like me. In the second half of the season not have turned out to be as good as it could have been, but the conlusion: it was a nice show. Some say that the main reason of the cancel was that its target audience didn’t get the feeling of the show. It’s not true, because this kind of shows have no target audience. This shows are for the tv-shows addicts and fans of Sorkin. And for Cancel-addicts.

Flight of the Conchords 1x01

Sorry guys about the long-term break, I had some technical issues with my notebook, but now I’m back. In this review, we check the Flight of the Conchords out.

This is the HBO’s new comedy series, which is about the life of a new zealandian parody duo („the fourth popular”), which consists of Bret and Clement. They attempt to break into the american music scene (exactly to New York) with the help of their manager, Murray and their only, obsessed fan, Mel, who is not an average girl. They have other interesting friends, which characters are very unneccesary. So, this is the main story, but truly, there is no storyline. It’s just a funny show about two guys and some of their friends, no hiding advertisements, no dramatic actions, no disgusting sex issues or other shit.

Other reviews say Flight of the Conchords is like popular movies, such as Zoolander or Napoleon Dynamite, but I think isn’t true. Zoolander has a nice story, but the Conchords is like a good stand-up comedy with some, lame story-idea. This is a very original production with a small sketch-show feeling but this is the main problem. Every episode is almost the same, just the jokes are changing. I don’t like this kind of shows and I’m sure that the audience will share my opininon. The humor of the series and the facial expressions of Bret and Clement are very good, but after some time, I couldn’t laugh anymore.

New infos about cancelled Veronica Mars

After the cancel of CW’s dramatic teen-soap, "Veronica Mars" everybody was disappointed and angry. Unfortunately, The CW is not CBS to change its decision (remember the Jericho case) so Veronica was cancelled forever.

But the story of Mars may continue on the big screen and in a comic book, reports Toronto Star. The leaders of DC Comics and the creator of the show had a meeting last week and they agreed to do a comic series. The storyline is ready, according to Rob Thomas, executive producer, Veronica will go to the FBI academy in the comic book, which story will be the virtual season 4 for the show.
After the cancellation many fans start to send Mars Bars to the CW’s building to save Veronica like fans of Jericho did, but according to Thomas, the story of the teenaged private eye was ended forever on TV. But I think Rob Thomas didn’t want to continue the story because he has now two other works, the ABC’s mid-season series „Miss/Guided” and a pilot called Party Down. So, calm down folks, Veronica Mars is over.

John from Cincinnati 1x01

This is a new HBO show, just days after the Sopranos finale, and it looks like pretty lame and strange (yes, this is the exact word for this show).

John from Cincinnati is about a family and its new friends: a man and a boy. The Yost family is in trouble when a man who was spumed by the Yosts years ago is arriving to the city to take a revenge. Meanwhile a wealthy boy wants to learn surfing so he goes to the Yost family, which consists of Mitch Yost, the father, his wife, Cissy, their drug-addicted surfer son, Butchie and Butchie's 14-year-old son, Shaun who is also a surfer or just wants to be a surfer. And here comes John from Cincinnati, a stranger who has a lot of money and a lot of secrets. He is a very crazy and strange guy, but easily befriends Butchie, who is a true loser.
This is the main storyline and the fate of this 10 part series is seems to be very bad, I think, because all the characters are very forgettable and boring, so maybe the story is the only chance to attract the viewers, but according to the first episode, this is not a chance. Altough the creator of this show is David Milch who is the man behind Deadwood, I can’t find any clues of creativity…yes, there are all kind of stuff, like drug abuse, boozing, surfing and so on, but it is not a mini-series, John from Cincinnati is just a short teen soap.

Despite of the good and well-known actors, for example Luke Perry or Luis Guzman, I don’t think that the acting was very good in this first episode. But in spite of all this crap, the show offers unique opportunity to know Imperial Beach, the last shoreline before the US and Mexican border, but I think this is not enough to sustain the interest of viewers through 2-3 episodes.

Supergirl is coming!!!

A new character will join the CW’s long-running Superman-saga, Smallville. After a few attempts of showing extraordinary superheroes, a new legend, The supergirl will join the cast in this fall, reported the network, Monday, June 11.

This won’t be a new idea, if you remember, some other DC Comics characters have made appearances in the show, for example, The Flash, Aquaman or Cyborg. But this case is different according to the executive producer, Al Gough because Supergirl will a fix member of the crew for the new season of Smallville. The seventh season of Clark Kent’s story will get new power and spark. It is important, because I think the last two seasons were very bad and boring, but maybe the new character will help the show to renew.

According to the network's homepage, the new season will premiere with the arrival of Kara, Superman’s 19-year-old cousin born on Krypton. Kara also has superpowers, and she can fly, not like Clark. But Lex and the others are also interested in the new girl and it makes the story very interesting.

Note: Casting for the Supergirl role is currently underway but I think a very hot girl will be the winner.

Clair Forlani and Dougray Scott got married

Famous actress Clair Forlani and tv-series star Dougray Scott were married in Italy on Friday, June 8.

They met almost two years ago, and Dougray proposed to the girl last September. The Scottish actor played Ian Kavanaugh on Desperate Housewives, who tried to get Susan’s love but unfortunately he failed. But all cancel addicts know that Dougray played a nice character on the cancelled „Heist”, which was a very good thief-thing show.

According to imdb.com, Scott was a main character of various kind of movies, like Mission Impossible 2 or Dark Water. But the truth is: I don’t know this guy before I found some information about him on Internet. But Claire Forlani is a famous american actress, she played Anthony Hopkins’s daughter on Meet Joe Black and she was the love of Freddie Prinze Jr. On Boys and Girls. Good luck guys!

Isiah Washington is "cancelled"

The decision is final and Dr. Preston Burke’s carrier is over.

According to the ABC Studios information, the network didn’t pick up Isaiah Washington’s contract option for Grey’s Anatomy next season. We don’t know exactly why, but probably his homophobic speech is one of the main reasons. Last fall Washington called T.R. Knight (an other star of the show) a faggot during the work. And there was a similar incident on the Golden Globe awards in January, too.

The point is, we don’t know the exact reason of the departure but we will feel the lack of Burke on the screen, it’s sure. After watching the season finale of Grey’s it was predictable that Isiah would go. Remember, Burke split Cristina and moved out of their apartment in this episode. It is sad news but the good news is, Grey’s Anatomy will be back for the next season and the spin-off, Private Practice was got the order for a series.

Hollyoaks 1x01

Usually, tv-shows are imported from USA to Europe, but in the case of the UK, there are some interesting ideas which are imported to USA. For example, the Hollyoaks.

This was a successful, teen drama for a long time in the UK, and now BBC America picked up the series and started to air this long-running british family story. The show is about a local community, Hollyoaks and its interesting people. First of all, there is an escaped convict, Sam Owen, who takes revenge on Hollyoaks community with a fire because of his hurts. Meanwhile, Russ (Sam’s brother) trying to build a new life, he started to learn, he’s got a new girlfriend (Sophie) but henceforward he loves his ex-girlfriend (all the time the same story).

An other main character is Becca, who is a pregnant teacher and also lives in Hollyoak. She has a secret affair with one of her former students. While we start to know these people and the community, suddenly a fire devastates the pub, which is the centre of Hollyoaks community life. This terrible act changes everything and everybody, and the people will have to face a lot of new problems. You know, in this show there are a lot of types of problems: gangsters, drug, rape (male and female), murders and etc. So, this is not a average teen soap, but unfortunately is is very lame.

Opinion: Hollyoaks is just another boring teen soap, which has no future, I think. Why? The story is boring and ridicolous, the characters are fake, actors are very B-kategoric. Despite of the ads which says there will be a wide range of recent music, the soundtracks are very bad and boring. I try to find some good things, but I think there is just one: the women. They are beautiful and awesome, but the other parts of the show is lame (like I said before).

Hollyoaks now airs in the USA on BBC America, weeknights at 10.30 pm.

New nightmare for BSG fans

Two weeks after the shocking cancellation of Battlestar Galactica, a new nightmare was born.

One week before the last episode aired in USA, the home channel, ABC announced the cancel. The cancel probably was due the show's one million-per-episode cost, or maybe the low ratings but other experts say that the reason of the cancel was the pressure which Universal put on ABC because of some merchandise-profit issue. The point is, no one knows why BSG was cancelled, but everybody was shocked.

And recently Ronald D. Moore and David Elick (the producers) have announced a very sad information about the future of a BSG movie: there is no need for a movie in the storyline of the saga, so there won't beBattlestar Galactica movie in the future. But the good news is, the crew of BSG now is working two future projects: the series of Caprica and The Bionic Woman, which two will air this fall.

Kidnapped news

Do you remember the cancelled NBC’s show, Kidnapped? And do you remember Jeremy Sisto, who plays the independent hostage expert? Well, Sisto will not disappear in the past like other actors of cancelled shows, because he will join the cast of Law & Order next season.

Probably he will be the alternate of Milena Govich, one of the primary detectives of the show. Sisto guest-starred on this long-running series in May, playing a defense attorney but now he will play an other character, so it will be some confusion. The reason of the change: according to Dick Wolf, the show’s creator, the Law & Order needs some fresh meat to strenghten the ratings. Let’s see.

Shemar Moore is in trouble

Shemar Moore, who plays Derek Morgan on "Criminal Minds" , was arrested Friday, June 1 in Los Angeles, for speeding and displaying signs of alchohol impairment, reports TMZ.com. After a few tests, he was released on $5000 bail, but in the future, he will have some problems because of this booking. Note: Before the „Criminal Minds”, Moore played Malcolm Winters on „The Young and the Restless”, the legendary tv-soap. Be careful, Morgan!

Jericho is back!!!

Today, Nina Tassler, the president of CBS network, announced in a letter that Jericho picked up for midseason. CBS has ordered seven episodes of this great show for next year. The specific date of the returning is unknown, but this news is an unbelievable miracle for those fans, who have sent tons of nuts to the CBS centre. So, Jericho is back, but according to Tassler the ratings have to be grow or is just a short rebirth. Yikes!

The Lost Room 1x01

Gosh! This is one the best sci-fi shows, I've ever seen. Everything is perfect: the main idea, the storyline, thecharacters, the end, almost everything. At first, Ithought, it would be some futuristic and incomprehensiblesci-fi crap. But I was wrong.

Story: there is a detective, John Miller, who finds a key to a motel room, and turns out, this room is a very special place, like a door to other dimensions. When his daughter accidentally disappears in the room,Miller gives up everything to find the girl. Turns outthere are a lot of objects from the room, which havespecial power and there are a lot of people who want todo everything to get more and more objects. At the endof this mini-series we know everything about the secret and the history of Room 10 at Sunshine Motel.

Opinion: This is a very good and new idea and it mighthave been a fantastic tv-series. But fortunately it wasjust six, unbelievable episodes and I was totally impressed. All characters are very special, I like the interestingattribution of all objects and the music. I think The Lost Room restored the prestige of sci-figenre and I hope I'll watch soon something like this.Great job guys!

Traveler 1x01

Yesss! Here we go…one year ago, Traveler pilot episode has been made by ABC and that time it was one of the most exciting tv-series of the 2006/2007 season, along with Heroes and Jericho. By now, Heroes is on the top, Jericho is dead, but all we knew about Traveler is just one, fantastic episode. But now, the adventure is finally started. Last Wednesday ABC aired the official 1x01 with a whole new episode, 1x02. My first reaction: Oh, my God! I have to watch this Traveler night, it will be remarkable.

Story: There are three guys (Jay, Tyler and Will), who just finished the college. They are about to spend their summer together but before that they want to do some crazy things, something to remember. They go to a famous museum where they start to rollerblade and after few minutes they leave the building. Seconds later a bomb explodes and destroys everything. Will, who is called Traveler, has disappeared, maybe died. A lot of people are killed and the main suspects of this terrible attack, are the two remaining guys. And while they try to escape from the city, they also try to find out who was this Traveler guy and what was this bomb-story. Obviously, the police begins a manhunt, just like in Prison Break.

Opinion:
If you like conspiracies, action, drama, you have to watch this show, because it will be one of the most exciting shows of this summer. The idea is very good, and I think if the producers make a whole story around this secret, then there is a future for Traveler. But unfortunately the ratings of the first two episodes were very bad, and if you think about Jericho, then the previous sentence was not true. As you know, Jericho has a great story and has a lot of fans, but because of the low ratings, the leaders of the network said stop. But you know, I’m a cancel-addict…

The Next Best Thing 1x01

Well, I think the substitute of American Idol is here, The Next Best Thing started last Wednesday on ABC. It seems like nowadays producers think that this talent-searching thing is the key of success. My first reaction: the searching of talented celebrity impersonotators mixed with jokes and „famous celebrities” will be very interesting and funny, but in the end I had to admit that I was wrong. The Next Best Thing: Who is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator? is just an other boring clone of American Idol, there is no originality in it, it’s just an alternate of the Idol.

Story: Three judges, Jeffrey Ross, Lisa Ann Walter, and Elon Gold (Whose are these guys anyway? I never heard of them too much, so I checked and turned out, Elon Gold is a comedian from Stacked and Lisa Ann Walter from Shall we dance?) travel to many american cities to search and find the ultimate and the most talented celebrity impersonator of USA. Who is liked by the judges, will go on to the next round. After all the semi-finals there will be a final where tv viewers will vote and just one of the many impersonator will receive $100.000 and the title of Best Celebrity Impersonator. Nice. The most important things for a contestant to act, sound and look like the impersonated celebrity and you know, in the first, two-hour long episode, there were more bad impersonators than good. The routine is all time the same, after a short interview with the impersonator we can see the production and finally the judges make a conclusion and of course, a decision about the future of contestant.

Opinion: First of all, there were some very good and funny production and I think the whole idea is pretty good but after some time it’s just boring. You see many bad impressions and after 10-11 contestants, you just want your CSI or Grey’s Anatomy episode back. And it’s true, so I very interested in the future of this show, because the first ratings of the show were pretty low. The household rating of the show was just 9th of all shows, and it’s a very bad premiere for the new hope of ABC. So, cancel-addicts, be ready!

To emphasize someone, I would mention the first contestant, Gary Moore, who played Little Richard very well, he sounded and acted exactly like him, and what is more, his song was just like one of the original songs of the legendary singer. I also liked very much Jim Neeve who was the new George W. Bush, he was funny and looked exactly like the president of United States. And there were other good performances, but the whole show is sucks.

Hidden Palms 1x01

Hm..What can I say? It’s just a new teen-soap about a troublemaker boy and his new home, Palm Springs. My first reaction: It’s like Desperate Housewives, The O.C. and maybe Dawson’s Creek mixed into one, great show.
Story: Johnny Miller, after his father suicide, moves with his mother and stepfather to a new and very rich neighbourhood, Palm Springs. Like Ryan from The O.C., Johnny will soon realize that there are a lot of secrets and gossips under the beautiful palm trees. But not just Palm Springs isn’t innocent, our guy, Johnny has a very dark past, because he has spent twelve months in rehab because of drug and alcohol problems. In Palm Springs, the Miller kid meets some very interesting person and finds true love, but an other girl also wants to be Johnny’s new girlfriend, and this makes a hard confrontation. Besides, everybody has some secret in her/his closet, for example a very sexy threesome with the gardener (check this out, this was a nice shot). So, this is an average teen-soap story, aired by The CW Television Network. Note: Hidden Palms has been given an 8 episodes order by the network.
Opinion: Probably this show is going to be the secret weapon of The CW, but there is an interesting question for me in this whole Hidden Palms story. This „teen troublemaker in the rich neighborhood” thing is not boring for now? For me, it is. The producers try to keep the mysterious feeling because there is no other way to keep the interest. For example, the dark secret of Eddie’s death is will be a very exciting storyline, but it have to be a very good solution or the whole story sucks. If they can mix the secrets, the hot girls and the filthy housewives thing into one great show, Hidden Palms is going to be great. For the O.C. fans, maybe is also very interesting to see Taylor Handley (now Johnny, played Oliver in O.C.) in a very new role and Michael Cassidy (now Cliff, played Zach in O.C.) with this devil smile on his face. On the other hand, I think there are too much characters in Hidden Palms, which is very boring because it’s hard to remember the names of every character. Is this the part of a strategy to maintain the possibility to open new storylines? Who knows?
Summary: After O.C., One Tree Hill or the legendary Dawson’s Creek, teens want a new and exciting teen-soap, maybe it will be Hidden Palms. And there is chance for the success because Hidden Palms is a good show.

So, let's get down the business

In this blog I will review all, fresh 1x01 episodes of almost every new american and some british and australian tv-series. For more I will show you those series which cancelled after a few episodes or killed after just an unaired pilot episode. You know, I don’t like the successful, loved shows which have tens of thousands fans and many seasons. Finally, I found out what the problem is, I’m a cancel addict. With us, you can be a cancel addict, too.
