According to the ABC Studios information, the network didn’t pick up Isaiah Washington’s contract option for Grey’s Anatomy next season. We don’t know exactly why, but probably his homophobic speech is one of the main reasons. Last fall Washington called T.R. Knight (an other star of the show) a faggot during the work. And there was a similar incident on the Golden Globe awards in January, too.
The point is, we don’t know the exact reason of the departure but we will feel the lack of Burke on the screen, it’s sure. After watching the season finale of Grey’s it was predictable that Isiah would go. Remember, Burke split Cristina and moved out of their apartment in this episode. It is sad news but the good news is, Grey’s Anatomy will be back for the next season and the spin-off, Private Practice was got the order for a series.
